Privacy policy · Last updated [DATE]
Your journal is yours.
The short version
Everything you keep in Lately stays on your iPhone, and in your own iCloud if you turn it on. There is no Lately account. We have no servers that hold your journal, and we cannot read it. No ads, no tracking, no analytics.
What stays on your iPhone
Your words, voice recordings, photos, places and anything Lately makes from them are stored on your device. Lately only listens while you are recording. It asks for the microphone, speech recognition, photos and location only when you use something that needs them, and you can change each one in iPhone Settings at any time. Face ID or your passcode is handled by iOS; Lately never sees it.
What can leave your iPhone
A few things go to Apple, through Apple’s own services, never to us.
| What | Goes to | When |
|---|---|---|
| Your voice, to turn it into words | Apple speech recognition | Only when your iPhone cannot do it on the device for your language |
| A location, to find its place name | Apple Maps | When a photo or memo carries a location and places are on |
| A location, for the weather that day | Apple Weather | When a day has a place |
| A copy of your journal | Your own iCloud Drive | When iCloud Drive is on for Lately. End-to-end encrypted only if you use Advanced Data Protection |
| Purchases | The App Store | When you subscribe or buy. We never see your payment details |
Apple’s handling of this data is covered by Apple’s own privacy policy.
What we never do
Lately has no analytics, advertising or tracking code, and does not share or sell anything about you. If you send us an export or a screenshot to get help, we use it only to answer you and delete it afterwards.
This website
lately.day sets no cookies and loads nothing from other sites. We count page visits with Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and does not identify you or follow you across sites. If you leave your email to hear when Lately opens, we keep it in a private store only to send that one email, then delete it. You can ask us to delete it sooner. The site is served by Vercel and Cloudflare, which process your IP address to deliver pages and protect against abuse.
Deleting everything
Deleting Lately from your iPhone removes your journal from the device. To remove the iCloud copy too, delete Lately’s folder in iCloud Drive, or turn off iCloud for Lately in iPhone Settings and choose to delete its data.
Your rights, and who we are
Under the GDPR you can ask what we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, and complain to the Polish data protection authority (UODO). For the app, we hold nothing, because your journal never reaches us. Lately is made by EVOQ Sp. z o.o., [REGISTERED ADDRESS], Wrocław, Poland, KRS [NUMBER].
